Our dogs
Shangani Chiremba Tonga:
Rhodesian Ridgeback, female, from the world famous Shangani-Breed, born March 22nd, 2007.
Since her 10th week she exchanged her life between fresh breeze from the sea, sunshine, flavour of Lavender and Olive trees with our unsettled weather in middle of Germany.
Sometimes we can feel that "Madam" hold us solely responsible for this unacceptable weather in Germany.
She hates rainy weather and therefore we have had much to do to keep this puppy properly - our first dog which was not house-trained within 10 days. When it rained, we were waiting and waiting in the garden under our umbrella and tried to entice her to come into the garden as well - without any effort, "Madam" executed her "visit to the toilet" inside the dry and warm house.
Our first dog which demoted us from "top dog" to servant - she is a Diva and we adore her from the first time.
She hates shows and exhibitions more than rainy days! And therefore she often embarrassed us succesfully in the show ring. Her movement of the head at cyberspeed, how she could get out of her show lead, went into reverse and left the show ring (for a start without us) is now an anecdote, but at that time we could just cry.
However at the age of 2 years we met Tanja Backes www.showhandling.de- our coach since that time. With her inexhaustible patience and experience, she made Chiremba from hoyden to a young civilised lady. Many thanks, dear Tanja, especially for your mental training with us, for sure without you we would have capitulated already.
Chiremba loves her familiy over all, she adores to snuggle with us in the evening and in time at "Newstime" - she comes, nudges us and tells us by sighing that it is now the time to snuggle together.
She loves to come along with us into restaurants, to shopping tours, long walks into the fields and forests in our country and of course the walk over a french market in Provence and after that to snooze in the sun.
She is - due to her african roots - watchful, but she often let the other dogs first look what happened, before she is coming to observe all personally.
If "well known" people come to visit us, she generally doesn't stand up, no, "Madam" receives visitors on the sofa to give them the opportunity to caress her ....!!!
Foreign visitors were nosed extensively in order to watch them afterwards from a perfect observation post and although she seems to sleep deeply - from time to time Madam lifts one eyelid to ensure everybody "I keep an eye on you"!
Chiremba is exactly what we were looking for, after more than 15 years of Labrador Retrievers in our family - a challenge.
Her elegance, her "not-of-this-world-look", her stubbornness, but as well as her aristocrazy do not fascinate only us, she captivates everbody. Her african roots she can not deny and she is a condign successor of the old Rhodesian Ridgebacks - inside her the heart and soul of Africa ticks.
Her african grandparents Shangani Chikadzi and Umvutcha Matobo as well as Glenaholm Jolly Jinx and N’Gai Zamu of Ginba’s Hero must be very proud of her little granddaughter - she is like the old Ridgebacks and a Cornelius van Royen would have had much pleasure to watch Chiremba - really an african beauty.
Meet Chiremba and you will adore her like us and so many others before.

Darla Meggie von der Philippsteiner Höhe:Labrador, female, born May 09th 2006 – the "whirlwind" in our family and like this she swirled into our hearts. She is always around us, appearently she doesn't need any sleep and she is always looking for any adventure, someone who hurls a ball or "kong" and any food!
Jolie:Cavalier-King-Charles Mix, born 2000. She is living in our pack since October 2008 and she was rescued from a Spanish "perrera". Now she can live with us in love and peace - without pain, sorrow and the daily fight for her life on the Spanish streets. She is the boss of the pack, everybody knows and accepts it and she knows it very well. Chiremba loves this little girl and bows and scrapes with devotion.
